Log House

The Log House, built in 1886, as a “highway house” stage stop between Aspen and Basalt, was recently placed on the Colorado Historic Register. Well appointed with attention to detail, this nostalgic and carefree house maintains a warm welcoming feel without fancy frills. The living room, with a view down river is a perfect place to relax beside the gas log stove. A fully equipped kitchen and modern stainless appliances, invites friends and family to gather around the old-fashioned kitchen table for a home cooked meal. For the grillers there is a gas grill right outside the kitchen door. The original office off the kitchen now doubles as an extra bedroom or sunny sitting area with a comfortable double futon couch. The master bedroom, located on the first floor, has a queen bed, private bathroom and outside entrance. Upstairs is 2 bedroom getaway suite with a connecting “Jack & Jill” bath featuring a large bathtub. One upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has 2 twin beds with a sitting area.

The grassy fenced yard is perfect for corralling dogs and kids and a private patio off the living room is great for a sunny breakfast or shady rest in the afternoon.

Groups and families love the fun relaxed atmosphere of this house with the convenience of modern appliances, and appreciate casual ambiance of comfortable furniture, tastefully placed photographs and art and contemporary carpet throughout.  It is often said a vacation in this house is like a “home away from home”.
